About Beach Boys Britain

The+Beach+Boys+5f157b5d84Originally we were known as “The Breakaways”, a small group of Beach Boys fans who got together in order to exchange information. Due to an increasing number of enquiries about us, after my appearance on TV (‘Surprise, Surprise’ in 1996) and really by demand, we have grown in a very short space of time and become “international” ! There would seem to be more than a few like-minded people out there who feel the need for current information, as we do.

We are officially recognised by, and have direct contact with, Brian Wilson’s management, Al Jardine’s management and The Beach Boys Management, Brother Records Inc. (along with their “blessings”, no less!) and this enables us to take a generally more proactive approach, although we believe that we are very much “free thinking” in our approach ! Our aim is to provide current information and articles in the form of a Newsletter, which is mailed to our members on a regular basis. Extra “Bulletins” may be issued between Newsletters when necessary and input from members is not only welcomed but also appreciated and encouraged. Recently, we’ve featured interviews with members of both Brian’s band (Scott Bennett) and the touring Beach Boys (Scott Totten, John Cowsill), and are lining up future grillings from others involved in the nearly 50-year history of The Beach Boys.

The+Beach+Boys+CAGZ9VBXIn past years, we organised several “Get-Togethers” around the country each year for those of us not content to just sit and read about the group, but who want to hear live music and participate in same. Other features of these events were quizzes, Question and Answer sessions, CD and Video stalls and best of all, meeting a group of like-minded people and maybe making new pals. We also ran harmony workshops at some of these venues, which proved very successful. Sadly, the current economic & financial climate has forced us to suspend these gatherings – but they will return (there’s a certain significant anniversary looming…).

Our members receive regular, informative Newsletters (three a year), and we positively encourage you to participate as much (or as little !) as you want. We have our own website and Message Board, which is frequently visited by Bruce Johnston, Billy Hinsche and others connected with group past and present.

We look forward very much to welcoming you on board
